B i o g r a p h y
I have been a music lover all my life. Over the years I have been able to participate in many different ensembles and performances of all kinds, enjoying every minute of every one!
At the age of ten, I finally convinced my parents to let me start taking piano lessons. The next year I began playing cello through the public school programs. Since then I have also picked up the guitar, bass, percussion, ukulele, and singing as hobbies too.
I attended Truman State University for undergrad where I earned my BM in Cello Performance and BA in Piano (General Concentration). After that, I moved on to gain a Masters Degree in Cello Performance from the University of Missouri - Kansas City's Conservatory of Music and Dance. Since then, I have continued to study on my own as well as more contemporary styles utilizing a loop pedal and other electronics.
Throughout my time as a musician, I have taken part in many orchestras including ones for schools, honors, and the community. I've also had the pleasure of playing in countless chamber ensembles, marching bands, jazz bands, concert bands, percussion ensembles, choirs, my collegiate acappella group (True Men), and being in the pit for numerous musicals and operas! In addition to these, I have also collaborated with many students for their solo recitals both on accompanying piano and continuo cello. I am constantly trying to expand my musical horizons in order to gain an all-encompassing understanding of music.
As an instructor, I've been volunteering to help out with programs since I was in high school. I have helped teach and lead rehearsals for summer strings camps, The Kansas City Cello Society, and various other school groups. I am currently teaching both cello and piano through Meyer Music on Barry Rd. in the Northland. Please don't hesitate to give them a call if you would be interested in taking lessons with me!
My mission and goal, both as a performer and teacher, is to share my knowledge and passion of music with the world, to inspire you to begin or continue on a musical journey of your own.
