Daniel Yung is a Kansas City native who has been involved in the local music scene for the last decade and a half. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Piano from Truman State University as well as a Master of Music in Cello Performance from UMKC's Conservatory of Music and Dance. Though currently working full time as an accompanist of choirs for Pleasant Hill Middle and High School, he freelances and substitutes on cello for local groups such as the Midwest Chamber Ensemble and the St. Joseph Symphony Orchestra and is now the principal cellist for the Westwood Ensemble. Over the past several years, he has also taken a leading role with the Kansas City Cello Society where he arranges and coaches for the ensembles. Most recently, Mr. Yung became the cellist (and sometimes percussionist) for the new group, Porch Music KC, which gives free outdoor concerts weekly.

Ever since he was in high school, Daniel has been performing in as many different ensembles as time would allow. These include orchestras, jazz bands, concert/marching/pep bands, choirs, an Acappella group, and even an indie rock band. In doing so, he has also picked up proficiencies in percussion, guitar, bass, and vocals, but is continually working toward learning more. He believes that studying all these different aspects of music helps gain more perspective and a better understanding the art of music as a whole.
